What’s your “WHY”?
I have always been passionate about working with and advocating for our students, helping them to grow and develop their voice of leadership. For the last six years, I have been actively involved in our district, contributing through Girl Scouts, robotics, PTSA, and other roles. Each experience has deepened my connection to the community and strengthened my commitment to supporting our students. Joining the Northville School Board is a natural next step for me to continue that work. With over 25 years of experience in the tech industry, combined with the insights and relationships I’ve built through years of volunteering, I believe I can bring a valuable perspective to the board to help drive positive change for our students and community.
Why should Northville vote for YOU?
Over the years, I’ve been an outspoken advocate for our students, families, and teachers, both through public comments at board meetings and active participation in our district’s online communities. I’ve demonstrated a commitment to keeping our community informed, providing thoughtful, research-based insights on important issues, and ensuring the diverse needs and voices of our community are heard. Serving on the board of education requires dedication, hard work, and time. Between attending weekly board meetings, committee of the whole sessions, and subcommittees, preparing by reading board packets, acting as a liaison to schools and community organizations, participating in building visits, legislative advocacy, and more, this role demands a significant commitment. Through my years of volunteering, I’ve shown that I’m more than willing to put in the effort to be present, well-prepared, and an effective contributor. Northville can count on me to represent our community with integrity and make informed decisions that benefit our students and schools, now and in the future.
How do YOU combat chaos and misinformation in the community?
I began attending board meetings regularly in July of 2020 to better inform myself. However, I quickly realized that I could play a vital role in our community by keeping others informed – especially those who could not attend or may have missed or misunderstood certain topics – and by helping correct misinformation that emerged from those meetings. Since then, I’ve actively worked to combat misinformation in our community, both through public comments at board meetings and by participating in online discussions. I believe the most effective way to address misinformation is through thorough research, citing credible sources, and consulting experts. Whenever possible, I back my information with reputable sources, such as official publications, legal documents, references to specific NPS BoE meetings, and verification from district leadership.
With the recent flurry of divisive and negative campaign tactics, is there anything else you want to share?
I was deeply disturbed by the recent “newspaper” that was mailed out to our entire community. Having attended board meetings week after week, I’ve witnessed firsthand the tireless efforts of our administration to keep the district financially secure through careful spending and aggressive pursuit of grants. I’ve seen the hard work put into increasing enrollment, the dedication of teachers working hard to help our students succeed, and I’ve sat through the presentations celebrating those successes. To see all of these achievements distorted in a way to paint a false picture of a failing district was not only misleading but deeply offensive. However, I believe our community is strong, engaged, and informed enough to see through negative tactics and misinformation. While it can be disheartening to see divisive strategies being used – and I can’t imagine how it must feel for our teachers to see their hard work used in such a way – I choose to focus on constructive efforts to improve our district. My campaign is built on positivity, honesty, and integrity. I believe it’s important for candidates to not only talk about what they can do but to show their dedication by being out there in the community, doing the work themselves. I would love to see more focus on collaborative solutions that bring people together to strengthen our schools, rather than spreading falsehoods that only harm our district. I remain committed to serving our community with transparency and working toward a better future for all of our students.
