“With proven leadership and a student-centered focus, I’m committed to keeping Northville Schools strong by building on success, fostering collaboration, and ensuring every student thrives.” – Lisa McIntyre, VP, NPS School Board

What’s your “WHY”?

My family moved to Northville because of the small town, friendly neighbors, and top-performing schools with a wide array of opportunities for students. In 2020, I ran for school board in Northville due to the attacks on our top school district at the start of the pandemic.  My experience as a mental health professional, as a parent and as a friend to many educators moved me to lead our community in successfully navigating the challenges presented following a world health crisis.  In addition, the challenges our high-achieving community faces with student mental health inspired me to bring that focus to school board leadership. I also wanted to be sure that Northville would be a place that would continue to attract and retain top educators amid a teacher shortage.

I am seeking re-election to the Northville School Board because I believe every child deserves the opportunity to receive the best education possible – in a safe, supportive and welcoming environment.  As a mom to Northville students, I know families want the best for their children, at school and beyond, and so do I.  As a strong advocate for public education, I firmly believe that teachers are the most valuable asset of our schools.  I envision a school community with great partnerships between teachers, families, and local organizations that set the foundation for success. Our community’s resources and collective dedication are powerful tools in preparing our children for each step during and after school. I will not accept anything less than the best for our students.

Why should Northville vote for YOU?

Over the past four years, with my leadership on the Northville School Board, Northville has continued to excel and become an even stronger public school district.  I have demonstrated my commitment to students while working alongside families, educators and the community to address mental health and wellness issues, needed infrastructure upgrades, and updating curriculum to best prepare students for future success.  As Northville Schools enters the third year with our superintendent, I bring perspective from the prior administration and an understanding of school finance through my experience as Treasurer. I know what the community needs from the Board of Education as a governing body.  I am proud of my work, alongside my board colleagues, in creating policies that support our commitment to all students.  My leadership around the Away for the Day smartphone policy to support student wellness and focus on relational practices to build a welcoming and supportive environment demonstrates my commitment to student success.

I am the only candidate with school board experience and my strong connections with families, students, teachers, administrators and the community at large will benefit the continued success of our kids and the district. The Northville teachers have endorsed my candidacy for re-election to the Northville School Board. I love this community and know we have the dream team in place in terms of education professionals, students, and families. My continued leadership on the School Board will be critical as this next board will be the least experienced Northville has had in decades. My approach to calm, thoughtful, collaborative leadership, using data and best-practice research to inform decisions is important to continue our tradition of excellence and get even better as a community public school district.

Vote for me, Lisa McIntyre, for stable leadership, unwavering dedication to our students’ success, and to continue the excellent tradition of Northville Public Schools.

How do YOU combat chaos and misinformation in the community?

To combat chaos and misinformation, I continue to amplify the countless successes of our Northville Schools, in personal conversations with friends, neighbors and community members, and through my strong social media presence. I also do my own research and share the truth and reality through those channels. I am a solution-focused person ready to dig in to maintain the excellence of our school district and to get even better in the areas that our students, families, staff and the greater community are asking for us to focus on.

With the recent flurry of divisive and negative campaign tactics, is there anything else you want to share?

Northville is an incredible community, with smart, engaged and supportive families.  I know we all want what’s best for our kids and that the success of our schools brings each of us a great sense of pride.  I believe building a kinder, more compassionate world can begin in our small town of Northville, as it starts with each one of us listening to others, seeking first to understand, and building toward workable solutions for problems presented.    To me, our focus must be centered on coming together to educate and care for 7000 students within Northville Schools, as well as the educators, families and connected community. We are a small town. Our kids play on teams together. We see each other at community events. Let’s be the examples that our kids need us to be by taking ownership and accountability for ourselves. We can be solution-focused without spreading chaos and misinformation.  We have so many things to celebrate in Northville. Let’s come together so we can keep Northville Schools Strong.
